The TDC META Brain head coils has been released for research purposes September 2020. This device has unique capabilities: it is able to receive signals for 1H, 19F, 31P, 23Na and 13C nuclei, as well as transmission of 1H, 19F. The 1H and 19F nuclei are induced into precession by the antennas build in the META Brain coil, the other nuclei are induced when combined with a META bore coil. The RF coil has been specifically designed for use with a MRI system designed to meet the needs of metabolic research.
The precessing magnetization induces potential differences which are digitized and further processed in the MRI system. The META Brain consists of a combined IFB and head coil. Imaging is performed with a 15-channel array coil and 8 dipole antennas developed and manufactured by Tesla Dynamic Coils. Interfacing with the system is handled by the software of the MRI.
